An Avid Student…

Has desire, determination, and motivation to attend college after high school.
Wants to be challenged in school with support.
Have a GPA (grad point average) of between 2.0 and 3.8.
May be the 1st generation in your family to go tot college.
Good attendance and good classroom behavior.
Participates in class both individually and in groups.
May desire an “AVID Family” support system.
Could benefit from guidance at school to become college-ready.
What are Avid student expectations?

AVID students are expected to enroll in rigorous college preparatory classes., maintain an absolute minimum of a “C” average, and be leaders on their campus.

What happens in the AVID class?

Students receive academic support through collaborative groups and are motivated to pursue academic excellence through cultural and collage filed trips, classroom guest speakers, and AVID team building.
