Credit by Exam – CBE

What exactly is Credit by Exam?

The CBE is a rigorous exam that will allow you to skip 8th grade Math and advance on to Algebra.

In order to receive credit for the skipped course the student must score an 80% or better on the CBE.

The test will cover all of the content covered in a standard 8th grade school year. It is an online timed test (3 hours without breaks) with 65 multiple choice questions.

If a student sits for the CBE and passes he/she must enroll in Algebra the following school year.

Who can take it?

Any 7th grade student that is interested in taking Algebra 1 next year who is:

·        currently be enrolled a level 7th grade Math class

·        currently mastering 7th grade Math (semester 1 average of 90 or above)

·        scored meets/masters level on your[PMP1]  previous years 6th grade STAAR Math Exam

Is there a fee?

The CBE is offered free of charge to all students enrolled in CISD.

Dates and Deadlines:

         All permission slips must be turned in to Ms. Pitts no later than January 25th

Test will be ordered from UT HIGH SCHOOL on January 25th

Test will be given on campus at Stockton Jr. High on February 21st
