Special Education
The mission of an effective special education program is to provide each special education student with an opportunity to be successful in the least restrictive, educational and/or work environment. A variety of instructional settings are used to promote academic and career and technology learning based on students’ individual needs and personal goals for adult life.

CISD Special Education
The Special Education Department provides resources to campuses to support meaningful learning opportunities for eligible students with disabilities in accordance with state, federal, and local policies to ensure that all students have the opportunity to achieve the District goal of graduating with confidence and competence.
To receive special education services, students from age 3 through 21, must meet eligibility requirements as a student with auditory impairment, autism, deaf-blindness, emotional disturbance, intellectual disability, non-categorical early-childhood, orthopedic impairment, other health impairment, specific learning disability, speech or language impairment, traumatic brain injury or visual impairment and as a result, require specially designed instruction to benefit educationally.
